U.S. strikes Iran again after troop deaths

world

The U.S. military carried out new strikes on Iran on Sunday evening after confirming additional American casualties, Axios reports. Central Command said it recovered the remains of a service member who went missing following an Iranian missile attack on the Muwaffaq Salti Air Base in Jordan, a base hosting U.S. troops and fighter jets that was hit by at least two ballistic missiles on Friday. That attack killed two American troops, and a second service member was wounded. Separately, Central Command said an American was killed Saturday in northern Iraq during a controlled detonation of unexploded ordnance from a downed Iranian attack drone. Eighteen U.S. service members have now died in the conflict. President Trump told reporters the U.S. hit Iran, in his words, very hard again, and said Iran had lost almost everything militarily. Central Command said it is withholding the identities of the fallen out of respect for families during the notification process, Axios says.
