Trump officials kill proposed rules for Pfas-contaminated sewage fertilizer
health
The Trump administration has scrapped proposed EPA regulations that would have largely ended the use of sewage sludge contaminated with PFAS as fertilizer on farmland. Per The Guardian, the practice has sickened farmers, destroyed their livelihoods, killed livestock, and contaminated drinking water and food supplies. The EPA had completed scientific research supporting these restrictions less than two years ago, but has now reversed course, declaring the sludge does not pose a significant public threat—reasoning partly that it's applied to only a small percentage of U.S. cropland.
