Cyprus marks the 52nd anniversary of Turkey's invasion of the island

Cyprus is marking fifty-two years since Turkey's invasion of the island, Euronews reports. The offensive began on the twentieth of July, nineteen seventy-four, and left roughly thirty-seven percent of the island under occupation. Around three thousand people, most of them civilians, were killed, and one thousand six hundred nineteen were reported missing. The island has remained divided ever since.
