The United States has carried out a ninth consecutive night of strikes on Iran, launched early Monday after the announcement of another American service member's death — the third in recent days. President Donald Trump said the new attacks were made "in honor" of those killed, while Iranian supreme leader Mojtaba Khamenei warned of "unforgettable lessons" if the strikes continue. The Guardian reports that seventeen US service members have died since the war began in February, and that Trump has threatened to hit Iran's power stations and bridges to pressure Tehran over the strait of Hormuz, where the US reimposed a naval blockade last week. Oil markets reacted at Monday's open in Asia, with Brent crude climbing two point seven two percent to ninety dollars and fifty cents a barrel. The US energy secretary, Chris Wright, said Sunday that the mission has shifted toward keeping oil shipments moving through Hormuz after the ceasefire faltered.
