Residents evacuated as the south of France burns

Fast-moving wildfires in the Var region of southern France have forced many residents from their homes, France 24 reports. More than six hundred firefighters have been deployed to try to contain the blaze. The fires come as temperatures climb past forty degrees Celsius, with an orange heatwave alert issued for Monday, July twentieth. The Var, on France's Mediterranean coast, is one of the country's most heavily visited regions in midsummer.
