Current Limitations of LLMs

LessWrong reports on what still holds language models back. While error rates have plummeted—today's best models achieve ninety-nine percent reliability on quick tasks—they remain vulnerable to adversarial tricks, can't maintain long-term context, and lack judgment in ways that require humans in the loop. Their writing converges into formulae, spatial reasoning lags, and even a simple children's game like Pokemon Red stumped the latest models until recently. These gaps are the real gating factor for advanced AI: as the analysis notes, the speed at which they close determines whether we're headed for faster or longer timelines.
