Two French diplomats subjected to ‘extremely serious act of intimidation’ in Iran, FM Barrot says

Two French embassy officials were subjected to what France's foreign minister called an "extremely serious act of intimidation" by Iranian security services, France 24 reports. Speaking on Monday, Jean-Noël Barrot said the pair were held and interrogated for hours in Iran the previous day, and that one of them was also physically abused. The remarks mark a fresh point of friction between Paris and Tehran, whose diplomatic relations have long been strained.
