Korg is re-releasing the PS-3300 synthesizer, a legendary instrument that became iconic despite only about fifty units ever being manufactured between nineteen seventy-seven and nineteen eighty-one. Supervised by the synth's original creator, Fumio Mieda, and Korg's team—which has also successfully revived other classic synths—this faithful reproduction faced significant technical challenges. Many original components are no longer available, requiring the team to source modern alternatives while preserving the PS-3300's signature sound. Mechanical elements like the iconic knobs and wooden panels were meticulously replicated or recreated from scratch. The result, according to Adafruit Blog, blends classic craftsmanship with modern reliability, bringing one of music's rarest and most sought-after instruments within reach of enthusiasts.
