The Space Force is now seeking to buy up to $30 billion in rocket launches

tech

The US Space Force is significantly expanding its spending on military satellite launches. It's tripling the maximum value of its National Security Space Launch contract to seventeen billion dollars—up from five point six billion. The program lets the Space Force select from multiple launch providers for individual missions, divided into two categories: experimental and medium-lift launches plus rideshare operations for Pentagon surveillance satellites, and strategic missions like spy satellites and radiation-hardened communications systems designed to survive nuclear war. Per Ars Technica, the expansion comes amid the Pentagon's rising demand for military satellite launches.
