Guyana ferry capsizes, leaving at least 27 dead, 83 missing

At least twenty-seven people are dead after a ferry capsized off Guyana, according to France 24, which cites Prime Minister Mark Phillips. The vessel, the MV Barima, overturned Saturday night while traveling from the capital, Georgetown, toward the inland Essequibo region. Phillips said Monday that sixty-nine passengers have been rescued so far, but rescuers are still searching for eighty-three people who remain missing.
