At least twenty-seven people are dead after a ferry capsized off the coast of Guyana, France 24 reports, citing Prime Minister Mark Phillips. The vessel, the MV Barima, overturned Saturday night as it traveled from the capital, Georgetown, toward the inland Essequibo region. Phillips said Monday that sixty-nine passengers have been rescued so far, but eighty-three people remain missing as search crews continue to comb the water.
