Pete Hegseth faces questions over $87.6bn additional funding for Pentagon

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth testified before the Senate appropriations committee on Tuesday to defend the Pentagon's supplemental funding request of eighty-seven point six billion dollars. As The Guardian reports, sixty-seven point one billion of that is earmarked for the US-Israel military effort against Iran. Lawmakers expressed frustration that the true cost of the conflict far exceeds what the administration has publicly acknowledged, even as the Pentagon says available funds are running low.
