On Tuesday, President Zelensky fired commander-in-chief Oleksandr Syrsky and named Major General Mykhailo Drapaty to replace him. Per France 24, the firing directly answers street protests from a week prior—demonstrators had specifically demanded Syrsky's removal. Drapaty was the candidate Syrsky's predecessor, Fedorov, had wanted in the role before Fedorov himself was dismissed days earlier.
