Pauline Hanson, leader of the minor Australian party One Nation, has called domestic violence wrong but, in her words, also a two-way street, linking it to cost-of-living pressures and urging people not to put up with it. The Guardian carries those remarks alongside comments from New South Wales premier Chris Minns, who told ABC Radio National that state Labor is under threat in a range of seats from a surge in One Nation support, and that his party has to fight for those votes. Asked whether One Nation is a racist party, Minns said voters with concerns about immigration levels are not necessarily racist, but that some of Hanson's own statements clearly are, pointing to her claim that there is no such thing as a good Muslim. He said the state Labor government is responding with what he described as practical, commonsense changes to policy.
