The image shows Nunatak Zaterjavshijsja, a mountaintop poking through ice, and the surrounding crevasses create what scientists have nicknamed 'the hummingbird.' The false-color image reveals how NISAR's L-band radar interacts with ice and rock. The satellite is the first to carry two radar instruments at different wavelengths, equipped with NASA's largest-ever radar antenna reflector—a thirty-nine-foot drum.
