The Guardian reports that Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth now estimates the rising cost of the Iran war at thirty-seven point five billion dollars. Meanwhile, Lebanon's president Joseph Aoun is meeting with Donald Trump as part of a four-day visit to Washington. The meeting coincides with ongoing US-mediated talks between Lebanon and Israel, following a framework agreement announced on June twenty-sixth that calls for Israeli withdrawal from southern Lebanon and the disarmament of Hezbollah.
