More than 140 dead, missing on refugee boat stranded off Mauritania

Al Jazeera English reports that more than one hundred forty people are dead or missing after a boat carrying migrants and refugees from Africa was stranded off the coast of Mauritania. The vessel had run out of fuel, according to the outlet, which puts the toll at one hundred forty-three dead and thirty-eight people rescued. Mauritania sits on West Africa's Atlantic coast, along one of the sea routes migrants take toward Europe.
