Mamdani says New York City can't arrest Netanyahu for war crimes but federal government should

Per France 24, New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani said on Tuesday that his administration lacks the legal authority to arrest Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who is subject to an International Criminal Court arrest warrant for war crimes. Mamdani had been exploring the legal possibility earlier this month should Netanyahu attend the UN General Assembly this fall. But after reviewing the constraints, he is now calling on federal authorities to carry out the arrest instead.
