[Paper] Stringological sequence prediction II

On the AI Alignment Forum, Vanessa Kosoy has published a new research paper on stringological sequence prediction—a formal method for predicting sequences using automata-theoretic complexity measures. The new paper introduces an algorithm adapted to right-to-left automaticity and extends the framework to predict more complex sequences using what she calls arithmetic repetition complexity. Kosoy also notes that her new complexity measure appears related to her earlier work on control-theoretic complexity for polytope MDPs, a connection that emerged despite different theoretical starting points—and the paper continues her broader research into compositional learning.
