Opposition parties shut down Indian parliament in solidarity with ‘cockroach’ protests

India's opposition parties have shut down parliament in solidarity with a youth-led cockroach movement calling for the education minister to resign over police violence and education scandals. The Guardian reports that opposition politicians, led by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, gathered outside the parliament building in Delhi on Wednesday, dressed in black, demanding the resignation of Dharmendra Pradhan.
