NHS trust investigated for corporate manslaughter after Nottingham attacks

world

Police in Nottinghamshire have opened a corporate manslaughter investigation into the NHS trust that treated Valdo Calocane in the years before the Nottingham attacks, The Guardian reports. Calocane, who has paranoid schizophrenia, fatally stabbed the nineteen-year-old students Barnaby Webber and Grace O'Malley Kumar, along with sixty-five-year-old caretaker Ian Coates, on the thirteenth of June, twenty twenty-three. He was sentenced to an indefinite hospital order. The investigation now centres on the mental health service that had him under its care, and whether the organisation itself bears criminal responsibility.
