NASA Joins Genesis Mission to Accelerate AI-Driven Discovery

NASA is now supporting the Genesis Mission, a whole-of-government initiative to harness artificial intelligence for scientific breakthroughs. The program, launched by executive order last November, spans more than fifteen federal agencies. Per NASA, the agency will leverage its decades of missions, data, and technical expertise in two key areas: developing advanced systems faster to maintain American space leadership, and unlocking new insights from more than one hundred fifty petabytes of data collected over decades of research. NASA says artificial intelligence could help scientists identify patterns across different missions and instruments that traditional methods might miss, potentially revealing discoveries hidden in archives that have already been extensively studied.
