Ukraine’s strike on Russian retail giant Wildberries’ warehouses may have cost sellers at least 150 billion rubles

Meduza reports that Ukraine's July eighteenth strike on two warehouses belonging to Wildberries, Russia's largest online marketplace, may have cost the platform's sellers at least one hundred fifty billion rubles. Eight people were killed and more than eighty injured in the attack, which hit a logistics center in Elektrostal outside Moscow and a second warehouse in Kotovsk, in the Tambov region; Ukraine said drone components were stored at the sites. Analysts cited by Meduza estimate the unsold seller inventory in the two buildings was worth one hundred fifty to two hundred thirty-five billion rubles, while rebuilding the warehouses themselves could run twenty-two to thirty-six billion rubles. Recovering that money looks difficult: eleven days before the strike, Wildberries changed its contract terms to exempt itself from liability for force majeure, a category that now includes drone attacks, and the support it has offered sellers so far amounts to discounts, paused fines, and help with loans rather than direct compensation.
