France recorded more than five thousand seven hundred excess deaths during its June heatwave, The Guardian reports. The country's national health agency said on Wednesday that it counted five thousand seven hundred sixty-four excess deaths between the seventeenth of June and the second of July, an excess mortality rate of thirty-six percent. The figures come as large parts of southern Europe continue to endure another record-breaking stretch of extreme temperatures.
