BBC World reports that the wreckage of a Pan Am plane has been found seventy-four years after it was lost. Fifty-two people died aboard the aircraft, the Clipper Endeavor, and those deaths led to the introduction of mandatory pre-flight safety briefings — the routine announcement passengers still hear before every takeoff. Pan Am was one of the dominant international carriers of the twentieth century.
