A New Look – and Sound – for Messier 94
science
Per NASA News, the Chandra X-ray Observatory has released a new composite image of Messier 94, a spiral galaxy featuring a bright starburst ring where new stars are actively forming. The image combines X-rays of different wavelengths from Chandra with visible light observations from ground-based telescopes, offering a detailed view of the galaxy's structure. The oval-shaped formation visible in the image may be driving gas into the star-forming ring, and NASA has also created a sonification of the image data—translating the cosmic portrait into sound.
