Tories ask HMRC to investigate whether Nigel Farage owes tax on £5m gift

The Guardian reports that the Conservative Party has asked Britain's tax authority HMRC to investigate whether Nigel Farage properly reported a five million pound gift from crypto billionaire Christopher Harborne. Party chair Kevin Hollinrake raised the question to HMRC of whether the payment might be compensation related to Farage's political candidacy, which could change its tax treatment. Farage leads the Reform party.
