Boing Boing reports that Apple is preparing to launch the Apple Upgrade program as soon as next week, offering twelve- to thirty-six-month lease terms on iPhones, iPads, and iMacs. The catch: financing companies backing the program can lock down devices if you miss payments. It's pitched as a way to make Apple products more accessible, but at the cost of surrendering device autonomy.
