Enter Rachel Lichtman's groovy, shag-carpeted world of Golden Sands

entertainment

Boing Boing reports on artist Rachel Lichtman's creative project: an imagined nineteen-sixties and seventies town called Golden Sands, rendered in shag carpeting and the brown-and-orange palette synonymous with the era. Lichtman has created an entire fictional world around it—parody television commercials, print ads, radio spots supposedly from Golden Sands itself, plus opening-credit theme sequences from the town's television station, Programme Four. The discovery came through Frank Santopadre's podcast, Fun for All Ages, showcasing how much creative detail Lichtman put into constructing this surreal, retro world.
