Microsoft brings original Xbox backward compatibility to Windows PCs

Ars Technica reports that Microsoft is bringing original Xbox games to Windows PCs for the first time. The new Xbox Backward Compatibility on PC program launches today with four titles: BLiNX: The Time Sweeper, Conker: Live and Reloaded, Crimson Skies: High Road to Revenge, and Fuzion Frenzy. Each game costs ten dollars to purchase, though Xbox Game Pass subscribers and anyone with existing digital licenses get instant access at no extra cost. The PC versions support enhanced graphics like anti-aliasing and up to four times resolution scaling of the original signal, though games keep their original frame rates and aspect ratios—expect a four-by-three image at thirty frames per second in most cases. Microsoft says even graphics cards from eleven years ago can run these, though one from around twenty seventeen is recommended for best results.
