Voice Control Toolkit Comes to a Pico Near You

Hackaday reports that Moonshine AI can run a complete voice interface locally on a Raspberry Pi Pico 2 W—a microcontroller with just four megabytes of storage. The system includes voice activity detection, speech-to-text recognition supporting up to fifty tokens, and text-to-speech synthesis, all processing in one local loop without cloud connection. Squeezing three AI models into such tight constraints leaves barely any room for additional code, but the achievement shows voice control can now run on some of the smallest and cheapest hardware available.
