Thousands of tourists forced to evacuate as fire rages in southwest France

Just under twelve thousand people, most of them tourists, were forced to evacuate on Thursday as a wildfire tore through a forest in Le Porge, in southwest France, France 24 reports. The blaze broke out around midday on Wednesday, and hundreds of firefighters have been deployed to the area. It comes after France has weathered three heatwaves since May, conditions that have fuelled fires across the country.
