Trump says Saudi nuclear deal bars enrichment, requires Israel normalization

Axios reports that President Trump claimed the U.S.-Saudi civil nuclear deal bars uranium enrichment and requires Saudi Arabia to normalize relations with Israel. The agreement was signed Wednesday by U.S. Energy Secretary Chris Wright and his Saudi counterpart to help American companies develop Saudi Arabia's civilian nuclear program. But Axios notes the Wall Street Journal reported the deal also includes a joint study on future uranium enrichment—details that contradict Trump's claims. And while Trump has positioned the nuclear agreement as contingent on Israel normalization, the agreement text doesn't formally link the two. The Saudis themselves say they won't normalize with Israel without a time-bound path to Palestinian statehood.
