Murdoch and Musk in the crosshairs at Venice film festival

entertainment

The Venice Film Festival opens September second with Danny Boyle's Ink, a drama about Rupert Murdoch's 1969 acquisition of The Sun, starring Australian actor Guy Pearce. The script comes from James Graham, the Olivier award-winning playwright behind Brexit: The Uncivil War. Per The Guardian, the festival is also premiering a four-hour documentary about Elon Musk—giving the showcase a focus on media moguls spanning print and digital eras. The selection has faced criticism for its lack of female directors in competition, with only one woman's film included in the main lineup.
