Teacher and daughter die after trying to help boy, seven, on Essex beach

A teacher and her teenage daughter have died off an Essex beach after apparently trying to rescue a young boy who had gotten into difficulty in the water. The Guardian reports that police believe forty-two-year-old Shalina Rahman, a British-Bangladeshi teacher, and her fifteen-year-old daughter, Sameeha, were attempting to help the seven-year-old, who is thought to be a family member. The pair had been on holiday in West Mersea when the incident happened. According to the report, the boy was left on life support at a hospital in London.
