Scoop: House Democrats want changes at the DCCC after $500,000 blunder in Arizona

House Democrats are pushing for changes at their campaign apparatus after the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee spent more than five hundred thousand dollars backing a failed primary candidate in Arizona. According to Axios, the DCCC supported Marlene Galán-Woods in Arizona's first district primary, but Amish Shah won the race. This marks the third time this year the committee has spent six figures on its preferred candidate in a Democratic primary only to lose. Several House Democrats now want a more formal governance structure giving rank-and-file members and party caucuses greater say in DCCC spending decisions. Progressive members including Pramila Jayapal argue the party should simply stay out of Democratic primaries and let voters decide.
