US health panel recommends easing restrictions on controversial peptides

A federal health advisory panel voted narrowly on Thursday to recommend easing access to injectable peptides that are popular in wellness circles. The Guardian reports that the panel advised the FDA to drop current rules preventing pharmacies from producing these compounds. But government scientists had warned the chemicals haven't been proven safe or effective—and several of the panel members have ties to the peptides industry. The vote is expected to embolden RFK Jr's health policy.
