New Method Accelerates Color 3D Printing

Multi-color 3D printing has a new trick up its sleeve, per Hackaday. The technique rotates through a color palette with each layer, then adjusts filament flow or edge placement to control color prominence. The result: smoother gradients, better color blending, and faster prints. But there's a trade-off: more colors mean thicker-looking layer lines—a three-color print at zero point two millimeters appears as zero point six millimeters thick. On steep walls, the color blending illusion also breaks down.
