Heatwave and online shopping drive up retail sales in Great Britain

Per the Office for National Statistics, retail sales volumes in Great Britain rose one percent in June, defying analyst predictions of a decline. A record heatwave spurred demand for air conditioning, summer clothing, and outdoor gear, while online shopping reached its highest share of retail sales in five years.
