tech

According to Crunchbase News, General Catalyst surpassed Y Combinator in Q2 for the first time in several quarters when it came to backing large fintech deals. The firm participated in twelve rounds of five million dollars or more—outpacing both Y Combinator and Index Ventures, which each backed eleven. For General Catalyst, Q2 marked its busiest fintech quarter since twenty twenty-one. The broader fintech market is accelerating: startups globally raised twenty-eight point six billion dollars in the first half of twenty twenty-six, a twenty-two point seven percent increase year-over-year. Some of the quarter's largest rounds included expense management startup Ramp's seven hundred fifty million dollar Series F, valued at over fifty billion dollars post-money, and Paris-based insurtech Alan's five hundred forty-five million dollar Series G, priced at six point two billion dollars. Y Combinator still leads in overall deal volume with forty-one total investments and dominates seed-stage funding with thirty-three deals.
