A forty-six-year-old programming language just got a modern makeover. BASIC09, created in nineteen eighty for the Motorola six-eight-zero-nine processor and OS-nine operating system, now has a fresh LLVM compiler front-end. According to Adafruit Blog, developer Boisy Gene Pitre built the toolchain, enabling BASIC09 code to compile and run on modern hardware. The retro language is suddenly viable on today's systems.
