Per Ars Technica, Northrop Grumman launched its Mission Robotic Vehicle this week aboard a SpaceX Falcon 9 from Cape Canaveral. The spacecraft is fitted with two flexible robotic arms designed to service satellites in orbit over a planned decade-long mission. Three small propulsion pods, each functioning as independent spacecraft, launched alongside it. All four payloads reached orbit within roughly one hour of liftoff. Over the next year, the satellites will maneuver from their initial orbit into geosynchronous orbit—about twenty-two thousand miles above Earth's equator, where communications satellites, military warning platforms, and reconnaissance spacecraft operate in lockstep with Earth's rotation.
