Wildfire forces evacuation of NASA's Deep Space Network complex in Spain

A fast-moving wildfire forced the evacuation of NASA's Madrid Deep Space Communications Complex on Friday, per Ars Technica. The station is a critical node in NASA's Deep Space Network, which uses three global facilities to track over forty missions—including Artemis, the James Webb Space Telescope, and the Voyager spacecraft. Located roughly forty miles west of central Madrid, the complex features a two-hundred-thirty-foot-diameter antenna dish and several smaller antennas. The evacuation temporarily suspended operations as Spain contends with multiple wildfires across the region.
