Privacy Act of 1974; Matching Program

The Veterans Affairs Department and state public assistance agencies are re-establishing a data-sharing program, per the Federal Register. States will receive periodic updates of VA compensation and pension data to help verify eligibility for welfare benefits. The Treasury's Do Not Pay bureau and HHS facilitate the data matching.
