China penalises Trip.com with US$770 million fine for online hotel-booking monopoly

Channel NewsAsia reports that China's antitrust regulator has fined Trip.com seven hundred seventy million dollars for monopolistic practices in online hotel booking. The regulator said Trip.com used traffic allocation, platform rules, and exclusive agreements to maintain market dominance and secure the lowest possible prices from hotels.
