ICCU Monitor Logs Data in E-GMP EV Failures

Hyundai and Kia electric vehicles are experiencing failures in a critical charging component known as the Integrated Charge Control Unit. This component converts high-voltage power down to the standard twelve-volt system that keeps the vehicle's basic electronics running—when it fails, the entire car goes down. Hackaday reports that while the failure rate is low, the exact numbers remain unclear, and Hyundai hasn't disclosed what's causing the problem. In response, an engineer known as broadwall is compiling an open dataset of diagnostic information from affected vehicles to identify patterns and pinpoint the root cause. For now, Hyundai is replacing failed units under warranty, which the company recently expanded to fifteen years—though that's small comfort when you're stranded on the roadside.
