‘Nobody was there for us’: mother urges Andy Burnham to reopen case of daughter killed in Texas
world
The Guardian reports that the mother of a young British woman killed in Texas is urging Andy Burnham to reopen the case. Lucy Harrison, twenty-three, was shot in 2025 with her father's gun; he was never arrested, and a grand jury chose not to indict him. Her mother, Jane Coates of Warrington in north-west England, describes a family left without support, saying nobody was there for them. Harrison had graduated with first-class honours, started her dream job and bought her first home in the year before her death.
