Wildfires in Spain: Record temparatures accelerate spread of blazes

Wildfires burning near Madrid have forced tens of thousands of people from their homes as record temperatures fan the flames. France 24 reports that another twenty-five thousand residents were evacuated from villages threatened by the blazes, bringing the total number who have fled to seventy thousand, according to Spain's government delegate to Madrid, Francisco Martin. The latest evacuations, he said, hit the Valle del Tietar area of Avila province, west of the capital, along with two villages in the Madrid region.
