Venezuela men sue aviation firms who flew them to notorious Salvadorian jail
politics
Venezuelan men who were flown to El Salvador's notorious CECOT prison last year under a Trump administration deportation push are now suing the aviation companies that carried them there. The Guardian reports the lawsuit, filed this week in federal court in Washington, targets CSI Aviation and GlobalX, accusing the firms of civil rights violations, false imprisonment, negligence and intentional infliction of emotional distress for operating the three flights. The case puts the private contractors who carried out the removals, not just the government that ordered them, in the legal crosshairs.
