More than two hundred twenty thousand people have now been evacuated in Gironde as wildfires continue to spread across southwestern France, Euronews reports. Around one thousand four hundred firefighters, one thousand five hundred military personnel, and one thousand seven hundred security forces have been deployed, with aerial firefighting resources also providing support. Gironde, on France's Atlantic coast, has seen major wildfires in recent summers as the region grapples with increasingly dry, hot conditions.
